What Happens When You Call

We start with the cause, not the hole. A stained or sagging ceiling usually means water got into the gypsum core, and we want to know if the leak has been fixed before anyone opens it up. A crack that keeps coming back can point to loose fasteners or a failed joint. If an outlet, switch or light fixture sits near the damage, we note it so wiring is handled carefully once we arrive.

Next we ask about the room and the people in it. If your home was built before 1978, tell us, because older paint and joint compound can call for tighter dust control. We plan plastic sheeting, covered floors and a clean work area around kids, pets and anyone sensitive to dust. Then we set a visit to measure, check for moisture and explain what we found before any work is scheduled.

Have These Ready Before You Call

1. A rough size of the damage and which room, wall or ceiling it is on.
2. What caused it, if you know, such as a leak, a doorknob or a removed fixture.
3. The approximate age of the building and whether the walls have texture.
4. For rentals, the tenant's schedule and who can give us access.
